I took out my phone, opened our banking app, and said clearly, “Before you get on any plane today you are going to transfer every dollar you took from our account.”
His expression hardened. “I cannot send all of it right now.”
I nodded slightly. “Then we involve airport security, report financial fraud, and I give my lawyer everything including these clinic records.” I leaned closer and added quietly, “When the clinic finds out you used marital funds without consent I doubt they will be happy about it.”
That finally changed his expression.
He pulled out his phone and started typing with stiff hands while Brianna watched in silence, her face now calm in a distant way. My phone buzzed once, then again, then again until the full amount was back in my account.
I checked the balance twice before I looked up. “Good,” I said.
Ryan looked at me like he still did not understand the situation. “So that is it.”
I almost laughed at how little he understood. “No,” I said, “that is just the money.”
He stared at me waiting for something more, maybe hoping I would soften or give him another chance to explain everything away. I did not give him that opportunity.
