Esmond kicked the table in annoyance and said impatiently, "What are you talking about? Why can't you understand? I simply figured that I could help you out because you couldn't find a bridesmaid!

"You always twist the meaning of my words. I'm so fed up with it! Why are you so paranoid?"

If I hadn't been paranoid, I would have been played by him and Daisy.

"Am I paranoid? Or you two are up to something? Esmond, do you dare to swear that there's nothing going on between you and Daisy?"

I stood up and confronted him. I saw my bloodshot eyes through my reflection in his pupils.

I looked both angry and sad.

"Stop being so unreasonable, OK? Every time something comes up, you make me swear! Can't you change your bad temper? I know you've always been paranoid, but I never thought you could be this paranoid!"

His words completely convinced me something was going on between him and Daisy. My heart broke.

We had had arguments before, and every time I asked him to swear, he'd do so. He'd swear that he'd change and be good to me. But he didn't this time. He was guilty.

How ironic. I had been with Esmond for four years, and I had no idea that he had never forgotten Daisy.

I felt like a clown!
