This Christmas season could prove to be a decisive moment for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to a royal expert, as the couple appear set to spend yet another festive period away from the royal family. If that happens, it would mark their seventh consecutive Christmas spent outside the royal fold, despite earlier signs that relations might be slowly thawing.

Hope briefly flickered in September, when Prince Harry made a solo trip to the UK and reunited with his father, King Charles, for the first time in 19 months. Buckingham Palace later confirmed that the pair shared a private tea at Clarence House, the king’s London residence. The meeting, however, reportedly lasted less than an hour. Even so, it sparked renewed speculation that Harry might be welcomed back for Christmas, particularly as reports emerged suggesting his downgraded UK security arrangements were once again under review.
