Meghan reportedly felt nervous beforehand, expecting William to scrutinise her intentions. As the authors wrote, “She was self-aware enough to understand that the brothers were wary of women who were more interested in their titles than their wellbeing.”
However, the meeting went smoothly. William reportedly told her: “I was looking forward to meeting the girl who has put that silly grin on my brother’s face.”
Early Concerns Behind Closed Doors
Despite the warm start, William privately harboured concerns about how quickly Harry’s relationship progressed. He allegedly advised his brother to “take as much time as you need to get to know this girl,” a comment Harry later interpreted as “snobbish.”
A source told the Daily Mail that William worried Meghan might be “more concerned about her personal progression or profile over the wider goals and aims of the Royal Family.” Still, he kept these thoughts largely to himself, hoping she would be happy and recognising the scale of adjustment she faced.
