Then he saw the bruises.
Vanessa was arrested.
Arthur knelt on the floor and cried.
He offered me money. A lot of it.
I refused.
Instead, I asked him to pick up his son.
He did.
Later, Daniel handed me a document.
Arthur had signed over the building.
Two weeks passed.
The store was rebuilt. Stronger.
One afternoon, Arthur returned—different this time. Owen held a small box.
Inside was the broken base of the Murano vase, repaired with gold paint.
“Kintsugi,” Owen said proudly. “It’s stronger now.”
I cried.
Vanessa faced charges. Arthur stayed present. Owen healed.
I placed the vase on the highest shelf, cracks shining.
Some things don’t survive breaking.
But some do.
And they become priceless.
