According to royal commentators, Meghan’s apparent lack of warmth toward the UK could seriously hinder any progress toward repairing Harry’s fractured relationship with his family.

Years Away From Britain

The Duchess of Sussex, now 44, has not returned to Britain since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.

Her children, Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, were last in the UK earlier that same year during the late monarch’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

In contrast, Prince Harry, 41, has continued to make solo trips back to Britain, including visits to see his father, King Charles, while Meghan and the children have remained based in the United States.

Security Concerns at the Heart of the Divide

Harry has previously insisted it is “impossible” for him to safely bring his wife and children to the UK after losing access to taxpayer-funded police protection when the couple stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

Since then, the duke has been locked in a high-profile legal battle with the Home Office in an effort to have his security reinstated.
