The bride looked up, confused. “I recognized the name of the man the boy mentioned,” the groom confessed. “Bernie… is my biological father. I lost track of him years ago after he lost everything. I never knew he was living on the streets.”

The room exploded in gasps. “That man saved my son,” the bride cried, “before I ever could.”

Liam cried for the first time in his life. “So… do I have a family now?” The groom knelt in front of him, smiling through his own tears. “No,” he said. “You have two.”

The vows were eventually finished, but only after the entire wedding party visited the hospital. Bernie, weak but conscious, watched the bride, the groom, and Liam walk into his room.

“You were right,” Liam whispered to the old man. “The heart always finds the ones it loves.”

And for the first time in his life, Liam was full. Not of food, but of love.
