“Mr. Gabriel Ortega, is it true you were framed by your business partner?” a reporter asked.

He took a breath. “Yes.”

He told his story. The betrayal. The abandonment. The months on the street. And he gestured toward Lily.

“She gave me the courage to fight back.”

The story exploded online. Prosecutors reopened the case. Within forty-eight hours, Adrian Keller was arrested at O’Hare International Airport trying to flee the country.

Gabriel watched the news on a library TV.

“They caught him,” he whispered.

Lily hugged him tightly. “Truth wins.”

That night, Mrs. Henderson’s borrowed phone rang.

“Gabriel?” It was Lauren.

“I saw everything,” she said through tears. “I’m so sorry. The kids saw it too. Isabella says she always believed you.”

His voice cracked. “Bring them.”

“We will. And… the little girl. Lily. She stayed when I didn’t.”

He looked at Lily.

“She’s not alone,” he said.

After a pause, Lauren replied, “Then she’s part of us too.”

They reunited at the library. Isabella ran into his arms. Mateo clung shyly to his leg.

Lily stood back until Isabella approached her.

“Are you Lily? Thank you for helping my dad.”

Lily shrugged, embarrassed.

Isabella grabbed her hand. “You’re my sister now.”
