Ryan clawed at the boot in terror.

For the first time in his life, the man who bullied his wife realized he was completely powerless.

The General shifted his weight slightly.

He was preparing to end it.

Then Lily’s weak voice stopped him.

“Dad… don’t.”

The General froze.

“He’s not worth it,” she whispered.

The room fell silent.

After a long moment, the General stepped back.

Ryan gasped for air, coughing violently on the floor.

The illusion of his power was gone.

All that remained was a frightened coward.

The General knelt beside his daughter and placed her phone in her hand.

“I can protect you,” he said calmly. “But you have to take your power back yourself.”

Lily looked at Ryan shaking on the floor.

Then she unlocked her phone.

She dialed three numbers.

911.

“Emergency services,” the dispatcher answered.

Lily spoke clearly.

“My husband just assaulted me. I need police and an ambulance.”

Minutes later, flashing red and blue lights filled the quiet street.

Ryan was led away in handcuffs.

And for the first time in a year…

Lily finally felt safe.
