"Yes," I replied, having already packed up my things and preparing to leave. "Haven't you burdened me enough already?"
"This is a fork in the road of life. I'm not prepared to take a burden with me."
Lucy's tears that had yet to dry began flowing again. With a determined expression, she gritted her teeth and said, "But I'll work hard. After I pass the civil service exam, I'll buy you milk tea, okay?"
Ignoring her, I slung my bag over my shoulder and strode away, but Ryan stopped me.
"You haven't agreed to her yet, so why are you leaving?"
"She's promised to buy you a cup of milk tea. She's a poor student. You know how precious that money is to her?"
"You're not leaving today unless you agree to help Lucy."
Ryan tightly grasped my bag, preventing me from moving.
Lucy looked at Ryan with delight, but I frowned.
With this mindset, will his family's company really survive when he inherits it?
"I admit I'm a bit selfish. But Ryan, you're different."
"You two should be friendly and supportive as classmates. Why don't you tutor Lucy yourself?"
Ryan pondered for a moment, "My grades aren't good, so I need someone to help her."
