The sound jerked me awake from the nightmare. I could still feel the flame licking my body. The burning sensation and pain of being burned alive were still echoing all over my body. As I tried to get my bearings, the consistent ringing of the phone finally brought me back to my senses.

When I picked up the phone, I could hear the panic in his voice, "Where are you?"

I was too stunned to answer him.  What happened?  Wasn't I already dead in the fire?

"Honey! Hurry! I just hit someone!" Fred Jefferson shouted franticly.

My body shook when I remembered what he had done to me in the past.

When Fred did not hear my response, he became even more anxious

"Didn't you hear me? I am drunk! No one should know that I was the one driving the car. Come over here and take my place."

I had to force myself to calm down, before I could reply, "Alright, I'll be right over."

"Hurry up! The man that I hit looked bad. I think he is not going to make it. I need you here as soon as possible."

Beep ….

As soon as he hung up the phone, he sent me the address.
