The sudden slap made me dizzy and disoriented.
The people who burst into my house began to maliciously berate me.
"You shameless woman, you can't do anything right, yet you choose to be a mistress. Were you born to be cheap?"
"Exactly! And you dare to cause trouble on the day of Gloria's wedding. You really need to be taught a lesson."
My neighbors heard the commotion and came to watch, pointing at me and mocking me.
I suppressed the emotions surging in my heart and looked sternly at Gloria.
"You are Gloria, right? You've got the wrong person. I'm not the mistress you're looking for," I said.
Considering that Gloria was about to become my daughter-in-law and that my son might have cheated on her, I decided not to argue with her over a misunderstanding.
I thought she would realize her mistake.
But unexpectedly, she became even more aggressive.
She shouted, "What? You don't admit it? I've seen the photo of my fiancé with you on his FB page."
Gloria took out her phone and showed me a screenshot.
It was the screenshot of the photo I took with my son. Robert had added a caption. "The most important woman for me."
I finally understood.
The mistress Gloria was talking about was actually me.
