I couldn't accept what was about to happen, so I left.
While waiting for the elevator, I heard some whispers about Luke.
"Have you heard that Mr. James is going back to the head office?"
"Don't you know? Mr. James just came to inspect our branch for three days, but he stayed for more than three months here."
"Have you seen Mr. James' fiancée?"
"She is good-looking. She and Mr. James are a perfect match!"
"What? I thought the girl who always came to see Mr. James was his girlfriend."
I heard a burst of laughter.
Mr. James was Luke.
His fiancée was the woman in his office.
I was probably just a toy for him to pass the time when he was bored.
I threw the cake I made into the trash can.
When I got home, I curled up on the sofa and watched TV as usual.
I got many messages on WhatsApp.
It was Luke.
He said he would be home soon and he missed me.
I smiled mockingly and threw my phone aside.
When Luke came back, he gave me a smile as usual.
After taking off his suit and loosening his tie, he walked toward me, asking me questions in a very intimate manner.
"Olivia, did you miss me?"
He stood behind the sofa and hugged me, burying his head in my neck to kiss me.
