My mind raced, the room spinning as the reality of what just happened hit me. Tomorrow, I was supposed to become Luna, but now... how could I stand before the pack, knowing that Noah had already staked his claim on another? How could I bind myself to a man who had betrayed me so completely?
With shaking hands, I dialed Noah’s number, needing to hear his voice, to confirm what I already knew deep in my bones. But even as the phone rang, I knew that nothing he could say would fix this.
The call connected, but instead of his usual warm greeting, Noah’s voice was cold, detached.
"Willow, what’s going on? Tomorrow is your Luna ceremony, why are you calling me this late?"
I could hear voices in the background, and then the unmistakable sound of Sabrina laughing. The sound pierced through my heart causing pain. Memories of the pictures I had just seen flitted into my mind.
My voice was steady, but I was boiling with anger inside. "Noah, do you have something you need to tell me?"
There was a pause, and then his tone hardened. "Willow, I’m busy. Can this wait?"
"Busy with what? Celebrating Sabrina’s pregnancy?" The words tasted bitter as I spat them out.
