Evan was itching to punch Thomas' face, his eyes bloodshot.
I looked at Thomas with interest and said, "Thomas, since you care so much about Melissa, why don't you just marry her and stop us from mistreating her?"
Thomas' face changed. He didn't respond to my words.
Of course, he wouldn't marry Melissa. After all, he got a bedridden wife at home.
When Melissa was wheeled out of the emergency room, the wound on her nose had been treated.
Thomas stayed by her side, taking care of her as if she were his wife.
Instead of looking at Thomas, Melissa stared at me fiercely and said, "You heartless bitch! Just wait and see. I'll get you back for what you've done when I'm better!"
I smiled and pretended to be surprised, saying, "Melissa, Richard upstairs said he wants to come and see you. Should I let him come?"
Hearing that, Melissa instantly stopped cursing.
Thomas turned to look at me, with a puzzled look on his face. "Who is Richard?"
I didn't answer but stared at Melissa with great interest. "Thomas is asking you a question."
Melissa's tone instantly softened and a smile graced her lips. "Rebecca, it's something minor. Tell the neighbors, do not bother to come and see me."
