I shook my head, smiling as if he were a clueless child. "In that case, let’s bring everyone together and have a little chat."
Not long after, Hyacinth’s entire family arrived.
Her parents had always treated me well.
Even though I hadn’t been born into privilege, I had built my own fortune from the ground up. Everything I had, I earned without a single favor from the Duncan family.
Because of this, Hyacinth’s parents had always held me in high regard.
"Tobias, what’s going on here?"
Her father rubbed his hands together, his face tense with unease after hearing about the divorce.
I gestured toward Hyacinth and Zavier. "They’re tangled up with each other. This guy even tried to provoke me into hitting him, thinking I’d look bad in Hyacinth’s eyes. He wanted me to divorce her so he could take my place."
The moment those words left my mouth, her father’s expression darkened like a brewing storm.
Her mother turned to Zavier and scoffed. "A useless man like you, scheming your way up the social ladder with cheap tricks? You actually think you deserve it?"
Her father’s jaw clenched. "I’d rather disown my daughter than let the likes of you into this family!"
