Celebration Turned BetrayalChapter 1

At the champagne banquet celebrating a thirty-million-dollar contract, my boss’s assistant suddenly stormed in and slapped me across the face.

“You’re the kind of person who damages the boss’s interests!”

I froze, and so did the corporate clients.

“What do you mean?”

After a marathon negotiation, the credit was clearly mine. Wasn’t the boss my fiancé? How could the business I just secured for his company possibly harm him?

“I saw you go into the boss’s private wine cellar and take one of his treasured champagnes!”

“You could have easily bought one on the market if you were entertaining friends!”

Right then, my fiancé, Daniel Walker, came in and saw me being slapped. Instead of feeling any pity, he joined in:

“That was Cristal! And you gave it to a bunch of random old men with beer guts to drink for fun?”

“I didn’t—”

Smack!

Daniel’s hand came across my face. “Do you have any idea how expensive that bottle is? Twenty thousand dollars! And you used it just to please those useless clients?!”

“That’s right. If I hadn’t stopped her in time, they’d have been clinking glasses already!” Emily Johnson, the assistant, kept spouting nonsense.
