Brandon's sudden outburst was truly hilarious.
"What does the matter that you two are dating or not have to do with me?”
Just then, Taylor came out of her house and Brandon immediately held her hand.
“Taylor, when should we go get our marriage certificate?”
“Oh, didn't I tell you? I lost my ID card and my household registration is still in my hometown. So it's very difficult to get it reissued. Let's just have the wedding first—it's all the same.”
Brandon finally felt proud and said, "Yes, we'll have a wedding! We'll hold it right here in the village and it will be a grand one!"
Taylor pushed him back inside. “You go wait in the house first. I haven't seen my sister in years. I want to talk to her alone for a bit.”
She pulled me to a deserted spot to ask, "You didn't tell him bout my situation, did you?”
“No. I didn’t get the chance to do it. But are you really going to marry him?”
“The dowry he offered is just too generous. You know my dad—he's drowning in gambling debts. I'll make this sacrifice, put up with him for now and get the dowry first.”
She pointed at me. “Don’t you dare tell him about me, understand? Don’t ruin my plans!”
I nodded vigorously. “Got it!”
